Associate Relations Committee (2001 Co-Chairs, Dale Schmidtz, Vicki Simons)

Here's a "tip of the hat" to our great sponsors! Nearly all of the $22,850 pledged for this year's sponsorship program has come in, and the committee truly appreciates the sponsors' support and participation.

Sponsorship money will continue to be used for top-notch programs, which are free to members, and for other member benefits, including educational seminars, the new Web site member directory, and subsidies for special events such as the President's Dinner.

The committee is responsible for fostering positive relationships between associate and professional members and to coordinate fundraising efforts such as the scholarship program for the chapter.

To this extent, the committee in conjunction with the Program Committee is planning an Associate/Sponsor Appreciation Night in August. The site has not been determined; however, the tentative date is August 8. The committees promise this event as a night for associate members to gather, socialize, and discuss opportunities to provide enhanced value to the chapter.

Membership Committee (2001 C0-Chairs, Daphne Swayze and Eileen Smith)

Membership Committee (2001 Co-Chairs, Daphne Swayze, Eileen Smith) - Chapter membership increased to 178 members during March, and with the ratio moving to 76 to 24 percent, professional vs. associate, the chapter has been able to take three additional companies off the waiting list.

In an effort to make new members more familiar with all IFMA has to offer, a series of New Member Breakfasts will be conducted throughout the year on a quarterly basis.

The first New Member Breakfast will be at 8 a.m. April 25 at Panera Bread at Olentangy Plaza, and all new members since the first of the year are invited to the event to meet board members and to be officially welcomed into the chapter. These new members will receive invitations by mail.

Subsequent quarterly New Member Breakfasts will be held July 24, October 23, and January 22, 2002. Times and locations will be announced nearer to these dates.

The committee set dates for its meetings for the remainder of the year. The next Membership meeting will be12: 30 p.m. April 25 at the Olive Garden at Sawmill Rd. and I-270. Other meetings will be conducted on the last Wednesday of each month, or according to the following schedule:

  • May 30
  • June 27
  • July 25
  • August 29
  • September 26
  • October31
  • November 28
  • December, no meeting.

The committee also announced that members may now pay their membership renewals at the IFMA.org Web site. Just follow these instructions:

  • Click on Member Renewal Form.

Swayze says user name and password will be needed. She will provide that as well as answer any questions members may have about this procedure. Call her at (614) 781-0060, or e-mail at dswayze@continentaloffice.com..

Community Service Committee (2001 Co-Chairs, Janeen Carson, Mark Haberman)

The committee is continuing to sell golf shirts, lightweight sweatshirts, and golf towels to support the chapter's Adopt-a-Family program. These items may be ordered on-line at the chapter's Web site. Golf shirts are $35; sweatshirts, $25; and towels, $10. Each item has the IFMA logo. Logo items have not been available for some time; so don't miss this opportunity! Cash or check payable to IFMA, Central Ohio Chapter.

Plans for the annual raffle, also to support the Adopt-a-Family program, are developing. Three books of tickets will be sent to each member after the Labor Day holiday, and the drawings will be held at the President's Dinner in November. Items to be raffled are pouring in, and include, Blue Jackets' tickets, tickets to a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, a Basket of Goodies from Sanese, and landscaping by Buck and Sons.

Program Committee (2001 Co-Chairs, Stephanie Patton, Brittany Hauptman)

Chapter members will take a closer look at nature next month with a program on The Positive Effects of Plantlife in Facilities. The program will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at The Franklin Park Conservatory. The program also will include a tour of the conservatory's annual Butterfly Exhibit.
