Associate Relations (Co-Chairs, Vicki Simons and Dale Schmitz)
The Associate Relations Committee also has a President's Dinner tie-in
as it pushes ahead with its sponsorship drive for next year. All 2002
sponsors who respond by November 2 will be recognized at the dinner
and eligible for two free tickets to the dinner.
Letters have been sent to all members, current sponsors, and prospective
sponsors, Vickie Simons reported. Sponsorship forms also are available
on the Web site. Potential sponsors should contact Simons by phone or
E-mail if they have questions about the program or failed to receive
a letter.
All applications should be mailed to Simons at NBBJ, Inc., 1555 Lake
Shore Dr., Columbus, OH 43204, or faxed to her at 485-5673.
The levels of chapter participation for sponsors are: Initiator, $1,000;
Facilitator, $500; Manager, $250; and Associate, $100.
Community Service Committee (2001 Co-Chairs, Janeen Carson and Mark
Haberman)
In keeping with the President's Dinner theme, the Community Service
Committee has kicked-off the annual Adopt-a-Family Raffle which will
be conducted at the November event. Three books of tickets have been
mailed to all members. The tickets are $2 each with a book of six selling
for $10. All proceeds will go to support the chapter's holiday Adopt-a-Family
projects.
Mark Haberman reports that 12 great prizes have been donated for the
drawing. They are:

for 10 at next summer's Picnic with the Pops on the grounds of Chemical
Abstracts Service. The Columbus Symphony Orchestra donated the table.
- Blue
Jackets tickets for four donated by Mannington Commercial.
- A Haworth
CIT 10 chair donated by King Business Interiors.
- Lunch
and golf for two at the New Albany Country Club donated by DuPont
Flooring.

If you would like to increase your chances of winning any of these gifts,
contact Haberman or Janeen Carson for additional raffle tickets.
Haberman also reported that logo items are still available and will
be sold at the President's Dinner. Proceeds from the sale of IFMA golf
shirts, sweatshirts, and golf towels also are used in connection with
the Adopt-a-Family program.
The committee will again work through the St. John Center for families
to support during the holidays. Members who would like to participate
in the shopping and/or delivery of gifts should contact the co-chairs
no later than the President's Dinner. All are urged to:
"Get in the spirit and help make this year our most successful
yet!"

Watch your mail!
Invitations to the annual President's Dinner will be coming to you soon.
This year's event will be November 16 at the River Club Restaurant,
679 W. Long St. (the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers).
Tickets cost $25 for members and $35 for guests, and the committee would
like responses to the invitations by November 5.
Stephanie Patton also reported "good results" from the Brainstorming
Session the committee conducted September 24 for program ideas for 2002.
Topics suggested included: crisis management/building security; transportation
plans for central Ohio; inspirational and motivational; lighting issues;
space savings; sustainable design; tour of the renovated Ohio Stadium;
and professional development, resume preparation and job search.
The committee will announce shortly its topics, speakers, and locations
for the first quarter, and continue to fill its schedule for the remainder
of the year.
Also, members are reminded of the two October programs. On Oct. 17,
Dr. W. Gary Allread, program director, Institute for Ergonomics at The
Ohio State University, will discuss the latest on workplace injury risk
factors and status of ergonomics regulations.
The program will be at the Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Rd.
Members should arrive at 7:30 a.m. for a continental breakfast and networking
opportunities. The program will begin at 8 p.m. following brief chapter
announcements. Reservations are not required.
On October 24, 40 lucky members of the chapter will have a chance to
tour the Arena Grand Theater, which has just opened in the city's Arena
District. To reserve your spot on the tour, call Debbie McCreary, chapter
administrator, at 279-0575.
In addition to the tour, members may take part in a social period from
5:30-6 p.m. Complimentary munchies and a cash bar will be available
and members will enjoy a private movie showing in the Director's Hall
Theater.
