Committee ReportsDecember 2001Associate Relations (Co-Chairs, Vicki Simons and Dale Schmitz)The end of the year is rapidly approaching and sponsors are still needed for the Chapter for next year. The Committee is still hoping to reach its goal of $30,000 in sponsorships by December 31. Your company can help support the objectives and the membership of the Chapter by becoming a sponsor or renewing a current pledge. Sponsorship forms and a listing of the various sponsorship levels and benefits may be found on this Web site. Don't delay, do it today! Community Service Committee (2001 Co-Chairs, Janeen Carson and Mark Haberman)The Chapter's Adopt-a-Family raffle held at the President's Dinner in November was a tremendous success. Thanks to the efforts of all members who sold their tickets and to the companies that donated the great prizes, the Chapter raised $2,636 to help those less fortunate in the Columbus community. The chapter also received another $500 donation from the Citizen-Journal Adopt-A-Family fund to assist with our project. The Chapter has adopted three families through the St. John Center and agreed to assist the center with its Youth Program. Each of the families received a complete Thanksgiving dinner, and Chapter members will deliver gifts to all in the three families Thursday (December 20) afternoon. The Youth Program will receive donated furniture and materials to help with the renovation of their new space at St. John. Chapter members are now shopping, wrapping, and delivering gifts for the families. The gifts are being stored at Chemical Abstracts Service until delivery to the families December 20. All Chapter members are invited to join in the delivery of the gifts. Those interested need to meet at Chemical Abstracts at noon December 20 and then proceed to the homes for delivery of gifts. The committee would like to thank and recognize members who assisted in shopping for gifts. They are: Janeen Carson, Sally Gardner, Angie Castner, Dorothy Leachman, Stephanie Segall, Joyce Cavin, Steve Holcomb, Lin Smirniotopoulos, Ken Mulligan, and Mark Haberman.
Program Committee (Co-Chairs Stephanie Patton and Brittany Hauptman)A wide-range of monthly programs and entertainment is in store for Central Ohio Chapter members in 2002. First on the list is an inspirational speech, "Just Like riding a Bike," by Dr. Rosemarie Rossetti, speaker, trainer, author, consultant with Rossetti Enterprises, Inc. Dr. Rossetti will speak at 7:30 a.m. January 16 at the Fawcett Center at The Ohio State University. You may recall that in the summer of 1998, Dr. Rossetti was paralyzed when an 80-foot tree weighing three and one-half tons fell on her while she was riding her bicycle. You also may recall that she is the wife of Mark Leder, our Web site consultant. Dr. Rossetti will relate her life-changing experience and the changes it has brought about in her and her family's lifestyle as well as the lessons she has learned during her physical recovery. She is truly an exceptional and ebullient person-a must for all Chapter members to hear. Dr. Rossetti has generously agreed to waive her usual speaker's fee and has asked us to donate what we can to the spinal cord research fund at Ohio State. On this note, Dr. Lisa Fugate from Ohio State will report on her research underway and how the money donated by the chapter will be used. February 13 will be a Chapter Night, and while the event will begin at 5:30, the location and other information will be announced later. The committee also will offer programs on Central Ohio transportation, lighting, discovering your personality, and professional development. A tour of Ohio Stadium has been scheduled for May, Sponsorship/Associate Night will be in August, and the annual President's Dinner will be at The Blackwell at Ohio State in November. The 2002 World Workplace will be at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Canada from October 6-8.
