Stephanie Segall-Butcher, chair
World Workplace 2004 will be in Salt Lake City this year from October 17-19. Stephanie Segall-Butcher, who heads the annual event for the chapter, says, “Our group will be going out on Oct. 15 and return on the 19th or 20th, depending on whether we apply for any chapter awards of excellence.”
Early Bird registration is now open, and Segall-Butcher says the cost for the full session if $650. When early registration closes, the cost will jump to $750. Additional information on registration may be obtained at http://www.worldworkplace.org. Central Ohio IFMA members will stay at the headquarters hotel, the America Grand. The room rate there is $189. Segall-Butcher said airfare is expected to be about $250 per person; however, group airfare is possible with more than 10 people attending. Anyone with questions about World Workplace should contact Segall-Butcher at (614) 717-9957 or srsucla@aol.com.
Ken Mulligan and Mac Ware, co-chairs
Approximately 80 members and guests of the Central Ohio IFMA Chapter have registered for the free February 18 seminar on Building Permits at the Fawcett Center at The Ohio state University, according to Education Committee Co-Chair Ken Mulligan.
The event will get underway at 7:30 a.m. at the center, 2400 Olentangy River Rd., with a continental breakfast, and an opportunity for networking. With the number pre-registered, Mulligan says this will be one of the chapter’s best-attended events.
Joseph F. Busch, chief building official for the City of Columbus, will lead the seminar. Busch oversees a staff of 100 people in the Columbus Building Department, which is responsible for code reviews, issuing permits, and field inspection services for both residential and commercial construction. He has served with the City of Columbus in this capacity since 1995.
A graduate of Iowa State University, Busch has over 40 years experience as an architect. He has been with the City of Columbus since 1995. Busch has been involved in most, if not all, aspects of design and construction of many types of commercial buildings, and has received many awards and recognition for his work.
If you would like to attend the event, you may register online through the IFMA Web site or by contacting Mulligan at (614) 851-4214.
Mulligan announced that the second session of the Certified Facility Management Designation (CFM) study table will begin in April. Anyone interested in learning how to achieve the accreditation or needing assistance in preparing for the exam should contact him at the above telephone number or at kmulligan@cmiets.com.
Mulligan also is seeking additional members for the Education Committee, “particularly those individuals who would like to become involved with the best committee Central Ohio IFMA has to offer. For anyone interested in getting involved with the local chapter, there is no better place to start than right here. Call me today to help make a difference for you fellow professionals and members.”
One of the major tasks for the committee is the planning of the next seminar, one to rival the heavily booked seminar on building permits. Anyone with a seminar topic or idea that would be beneficial to the chapter is asked to pass that information along to Mulligan or Ware.
Justin Murphy and Michael Milenovic, co-chairs
Monthly programs have been set for most of the year, according to committee co-chair Justin Murphy. They include a discussion on Environmental Protection Agency regulations for the faculty manager in March at the Fawcett Center.
This will be followed by a tour of the Central Ohio Transit Authority facility and a second program on the future plans for the transit company. Also scheduled throughout the year are a discussion on LEED Certification, chapter night, tour of Netjets, the annual golf outing, chapter night, onsorship/associate night, and the annual President’s Dinner in December.
