You may refer to it as the second membership drive of the fiscal year, or the first of the calendar year, but in either case color it successful, according to Eileen Smith, committee co-chair. The latest drive, which ended this month, deviated a little from the earlier one in which 14 persons were recruited for the chapter by various members. In this second drive, members of the Membership Committee were the recruiters, seeking from chapter members only the names, phone numbers, and places of employment of prospects.
Ten persons have joined the chapter this quarter, and the committee has the names of over 55 potential members who are being contacted for possible membership. Each time a member submitted the name of a prospect, that member's name was placed in a container for a drawing at the annual golf outing June 19 at Shamrock Golf Course. Two members will receive $100 each at the drawing. Those in the running for the cash prizes are: Donna Byrom, Tom Duffy, Brittany Hauptman, Dorothy Leachman, Ken Mulligan, Linda Myers, Stephanie Segall-Butcher, Shelly Sensenbrenner, Vicki Simons, Eileen Smith, Lisa Wallschlaeger, and David Walton.

Professional facility managers interested in obtaining the CFM designation are urged to join a study group session June 26 to help prepare for the examination. This session will deal with real estate (Section 3, Part 2) and will be conducted from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Commercial Movers, 1299 Boltonfield St. on the city's far west side. The next session will be in July and will deal with space planning, life safety, and ADA. Anyone with questions about the study session should contact Ken Mulligan at 614-851-4214 or by email at kmulliga@commercialmovers.com. Also, anyone interested in joining the Education Committee is invited to attend the next committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 26 at Commercial Movers.
Vickie Simons and Linda Myers, Co-chairs
The Associate Relations Committee is again planning a special event for associate members, according to co-chair Vickie Simons.
"When the committee was formed, we tried to have an event every year for associates. The idea is to give our associate members an opportunity to ask questions about IFMA, their involvement with the Central Ohio Chapter, and to network with other associate members. However, any member is welcome to attend the event, and we would especially like to have board members there to answer any questions our associates might have," Simons said.
With the exception of the date--August 19--the event is still in the planning stage. While the details as to location and time are being worked out, the event will be both social and educational. Committee members expect to have a speaker who will talk briefly about ethical issues in doing business as a vendor/service provider.
Stephanie Segall-Butcher, Chair
It's decision time for World Workplace 2003, according to chairperson Stephanie Segall-Butcher. This year's event will be Oct. 19-21 in Dallas, but Central Ohio Chapter members need to sign up now as hotel rooms are being reserved.
"Even though we have found our hotel and have booked a block of rooms, it is still not too late to make a commitment to attend the event. Many people have expressed the desire to go, but say it is too early to make a final decision. However, if you are even thinking about going, book a room now because you always have up to two weeks before the event to cancel the reservation without a penalty. Failure to book a room now means you may have to stay at another hotel, one that is a good distance from the group.
"We are going to have a lot of fun this year in Dallas. Besides the many social events and networking opportunities, the International has added some courses that should be of great interest to all of us. They are in relation to security and bio-terrorism, topics that should be particularly significant to those of us who manage large buildings," Segall-Butcher said.
