Community Service

(Co-chairs, Joyce Cavin, Janeen Carson, and Mark Haberman)

The Committee Service Committee has launched its annual raffle to raise funds for the holiday Adopt-A-Family project for 2002, and this year’s fabulous prizes include:

Raffle tickets sell for $2 each, or a book of six for $10, and it is the committee’s hope that members and friends will each purchase at least three books of tickets when they are available shortly after Labor Day.  Through the Adopt-A-Family project, the chapter hopes to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday dinners for central Ohio families as well as Christmas gifts for every member of the “adopted” families.

Drawing for the prizes will be at the annual President’s Dinner on December 6.  Additional books of tickets are available by contacting Janeen Carson at 447-3622, Joyce Cavin at 740/549-091, or Mark Haberman at 466-5959.  E-mail requests for tickets may be sent to jcarson@cas.org, joyce.cavin@bentlyprincestreet.com, or haberman@oba.state.oh.us.

Programs

Co-chairs, Brittany Hauptman and Michael Milenovic

The chapter's annual Sponsorship Night event will be at 5:30 p.m. September 18 at Brazenhead on 5th Ave.  This is the event where chapter member pay tribute to the companies and individuals who are sponsors of the organizations and help provide many of the activities and events members are able to attend free of charge.  This is an night you won't want to miss.

On October 17, the committee will present a program on "Security Information for Your Facility."  Tricia Smith with Secure Check, Inc., will speak at the meeting at 7:30 a.m. at the Fawcett Center on the west campus at The Ohio State University.

Education

Ken Mulligan and Tom Logsdon, Co-chairs

Former chapter president Tom Logsdon has joined the Education Committee as a co-chair.  Logsdon, director of property services for National Realty Services, has been an active chapter member since joining in1989.  Logsdon also has served as chapter secretary and Education Committee chairman.  Ken Mulligan said Logsdon's returns to the committee with excellent experience with IFMA and in the facility management field.  The committee is working on four seminars for this and next year.  Target months are this November, and February, April, and June in 2003.  Mulligan said he will be gathering information on future educational topics at World Workplace in October in Toronto.  Anyone with a suggestion for a seminar topic should contact Mulligan or Logsdon.

Associate Relations

(Co-chairs, Vicki Simons, Linda Myers)

The committee is still accepting names of potential sponsors for 2003.  Names and address for the sponsorship mailing list should be sent to chapter administrator Debbie McCreary by August 31.  A one-time mailing for sponsors will be sent out in September.  The sponsorship program underwrites the chapter’s programs and many of the community service activities.  It also enables the chapter to offer many “no-charge” programs and events.  Sponsors, in return, receive invaluable public relations exposure at these events and through the chapter’s Web pages.

Membership

Eileen Smith, Shelly Sensenbrenner, Brian Bowers, and David Walton, Co-chairs

A six-week drive to increase chapter membership to 200 will begin in September with those “bringing in the most new additions” being rewarded for their efforts at the President's Dinner.  Chapter membership stands at 180: 133 professional, 44 associates, two students, and one retired.  All nominations for membership should be directed to one of the four committee co-chairs or to Debbie McCreary.  More details on the membership drive will be announced later.
