Committee Report
Community Service

Janeen Carson, Joyce Cavin, and Mark Haberman, co-chairs

Two Columbus organizationsSt. John Center and St. Vincents Family Centerswere recent recipients of donations of the Central Ohio IFMA Chapter through the chapters Community Service Committee.  One for $2,000 was used to help fund a trip for several youth from St. John to attend a weeklong leadership training conference for African-American teenagers in Louisville, Ky.  With the chapters donation, six youth from the community center were able to attend the conference.

The second gift was $870 to St. Vincents for the purchase of soccer equipment, including goals, soccer balls, line marker, cones and corner flags.  This will allow youth at St. Vincents to participate in organized athletics, something that has not usually been available for these youngsters.

Monies raised through raffles at the annual golf outing and Presidents Dinner and donations fund these and other community activities.  Tickets for the Presidents Dinner raffle, which will be held in December, will be available soon after Labor Day.   Once again they will be $2 per ticket or a book of six for $10.  Mark Haberman reported that IFMA members and sponsors are again donating many great prizes.  A list of prizes will be available when tickets are distributed to members.
