The Membership Committee has new co-chairs in J. D. Flaherty, Jr. of Construction Systems Inc., and Joyce Penrod, employed by The Ohio state University. Other members of the committee are Darla King, Scott Tucker, Michael Greenland, and Fred Timm. The co-chairs say the will concentrate on encouraging member participation and bringing new members to the chapter. Committee member Darla King of King Business Interiors, Inc., provided two clocks for presentation at the Aug. 11 program to members and quests whose names were drawn from business cards placed in a fish bowl. The winners were Sheila L. Hunkele, a business development representative with Sanitors, and Amy Williams, an interior design and office systems specialist with a Jackson, Mich. Company.
Justin Murphy and Sandy Stayrook Co-Chairs
Justin Murphy announced the next chapter event will be the second in a series of roundtable discussions from 5:30-7:30 p.m. September 15 at the Grandview Café, 1455 W. Third Ave. The roundtables--FMs First--are opportunities for facility managers to meet and chat with their peers about common issues. The first roundtable was held in June and attended by some 15 people. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided and a cash bar will be available. Members are asked to register for the event online or by contacting Donna Byrom at (614) 723-4168.
Murphy also announced a change in the annual Associate/Sponsorship Night usually held in September. He said the chapter’s associate members and sponsors would be recognized at the President’s Dinner in November because this event generates the chapter’s largest turnout. “We just felt it might be more fitting to present awards and certificates to those who have supported the chapter financially when we have more people in attendance,” Murphy said.
