The Community Service Committee’s annual raffle is underway. Raffle tickets for the chapter’s annual drawing at the President’s Dinner will be sent to all members, and all are encouraged to participate by buying and/or selling the tickets.
Tickets cost $2 each, with a book of six selling for $10. All proceeds from the sale of tickets are used to support community service projects during the holidays and throughout the year. Many great prizes have been donated for the drawing November 14 at the dinner at Four Seasons in Hilliard, and more are still to come. Prizes received and donors include:
With these great prizes the committee is hoping for a banner year for ticket sales. All members are encouraged to sell the tickets they receive and then order more. Ticket stubs and proceeds are to be returned to Janeen Carson, Chemical Abstracts Service, P.O. Box 3012, Columbus, OH 43210-0012 no later than November 3. A chapter-sponsored seminar on Indoor Air Quality—How Mold Can Affect You is being offered September 24 at the Blackwell Hotel on The Ohio State University campus. The seminar is free and includes a continental breakfast and networking opportunities from 7:30-8 a.m. Free valet parking is also available.

A “round-table discussion” and question and answer session will follow their presentations. The seminar will conclude at 10 a.m. Those who haven’t registered for the seminar are urged to do so immediately by contacting Ken Mulligan at (614) 851-4214 or (614) 870-3951—fax—for a registration form.
The committee is sponsoring two study sessions to assist those preparing for the certified facility manager examination. The first session is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. September 30 at Commercial Movers, Inc., 1299 Boltonfield St. Fred Timm, of Timm Facility Management and past chapter president, will discuss Operations and Maintenance. The second will center on Quality, Communication, Leadership, Human/Environmental Factors, and will be presented by chapter member Donna Byrom and Jim Schmelzer. This session will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. October 22 at Commercial Movers.

A panel discussion on Telecommunications—Return on Investment is scheduled for October 8 at the Fawcett Center on The Ohio State University Campus. The program will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and an opportunity for networking.
At 8 a.m., James D. Sauer, principal and project manager with DesignGroup, a Columbus architecture, planning, and interior design firm, will moderate the panel discussion. Panelists are Chip Chapman, managing principal, The Knowledge Group, Inc.; Ray Essex, president and chief executive officer, Datatalk/Executone; and Brad Hayes, president and chief executive officer, TTG.
The panel will explore the various aspects of telecommunications within the workplace, including infrastructure, technologies, and revenue management with an eye toward customer service, flexibility, and future trends.
