Associate Relations Committee (Co-chairs, Dale Schmitz and Vickie Simons)
The official drive for sponsors for 2002 for the Central Ohio Chapter
has ended with seven Initiator level sponsors, 21 Facilitator level sponsors,
five Manager level sponsors, and 12 Associate level sponsors.
Schmitz reported that these sponsors have pledged a total of $19,700 in support
of the chapter. He also said that while the drive is officially over, any person
or company that would like to become a sponsor should contact him or Simons.
Schmitz may be contacted at (614) 487-4303, and Simons at (614) 232-3073.
Both Schmitz and Simon expressed their appreciation to those who are chapter
sponsors for 2002.
Community Service Committee (Co-Chairs, Janeen Carson and Mark Haberman)
Approximately 100 youth, ranging from preschool age through high school will
benefit from the generosity of the Central Ohio IFMA Chapter's Adopt-a-Family
program.
These are youth on the city's east side who use St. John Center as their home
away from home and are anxiously awaiting opening of a nearby duplex as a
combination youth/senior citizen facility.
Sister Diane Kozlowski, in charge of the youth program, expressed her appreciation
for the chapter's support and for helping to prepare the duplex for use. Several
chapter members and their companies stepped forward to help with the renovation.
These include:
Ashland Chemical (Angie Castner), Chemical Abstracts Service (Janeen Carson
and Steve Holcomb), DuPont Flooring (Mark Zimmer), Mannington Commercial (Joyce
Cavin), Rite Rug (Chuck Yoho), and Singer Wallcoverings (Stephanie Segall).
Members of the Community Service Committee decided last year to reduce the
number of families supported by the Adopt-a-Family program from six to three
and to assist the center in helping to prepare half of the duplex for youth.
Mark Haberman, committee co-chair, said the three families assisted at Christmas
and Thanksgiving were very appreciative of the gifts and food certificates
they received, and, "On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank
each member who purchased raffle tickets to support the program as well as
those who assisted in the shopping and delivery of the gifts."
Haberman reported that the youth are still in need of additional furnishings,
including six-foot and eight-foot folding tables, a sofa, lounge chairs, small
computer stands, and window blinds
"The renovation is nearing completion and we would like to deliver the
furniture as soon as possible. So, please contact members of the committee
if you, or your company, are able to donate any of these items. Upon completion
of the renovation, we hope to assist with the funding of some of the youth
programs. The committee felt that by assisting with this program we might
impact a larger number of the children who use the services of St. John's,"
Haberman said.
Education Committee (Chairman Ken Mulligan)
The Education Committee is making plans for an educational seminar
the first week of March. Ken Mulligan said the seminar would deal with negotiating.
He is awating confirmation from the principal speaker before announcing date,
time, and location. He suggests members should continue to check the chapter's
Web page as plans are finalized.
Membership Committee (Co-chairs, Eileen Smith, J.D. Flaherty III, Shelly Sensenbrenner)
The next New Member Breakfast will be from 7:30-9 a.m. at Panera
Bread, Olentangy Plaza at 875 Bethel Rd., and the word from committee co-chair
Eileen Smith is:
"We hope to see all of the board members there!"
The committee has scheduled several of these meetings in the past year to help
acquaint new members to the numerous benefits from IFMA and Central Ohio Chapter
membership.
Program Committee (Co-Chairs, Stephanie Patton and Brittany Hauptman)
The chapter's first strictly social event of the
year--better known as Chapter Night--is scheduled for February 13 at the El
Vaquero Mexican, 3230 Olentangy River Road. The committee co-chairs have established
an evening itinerary of drinks (5:30 p.m.), brief chapter announcements (6 p.m.),
and then more drinks and munchies.
This is an evening you won't want to miss. Not only will it be an evening of
good fellowship and fun, the event will help you become better acquainted with
chapter members and learn of exciting plans and programs the chapter has for
2002.
