A changing of the guard of the Central Ohio IFMA chapter took place July 9 during Chapter Night festivities at Barley's Smokehouse, 1130 Dublin Rd.

Actually, there are only two "new faces" among the four major offices as Stephanie Patton (NBBJ) succeeded Fred Timm (Timm Facility Management) as chapter president, and Eileen Smith (Verizon Wireless) filled Patton's previous position of vice president.  Continuing in their present positions are Stephanie Segall-Butcher (Singer Wallcoverings) as secretary, and Dorothy Leachman (The Ohio State University) as treasurer.

IFMA committees also have undergone some change with several new co-chairs.  The committees and co-chairs for 2003-2004 are:

• Associate Relations--Jennifer Jarrett (US Bank) and Linda Myers (Steelcase, Inc.).
  
• Community Service--Janeen Carson (Chemical Abstracts Service), Joyce Cavin (Bentley Prince Street, Inc.), and Mark Haberman (Ohio Building Authority).
  
• Education--Ken Mulligan (Commercial Movers, Inc.) and Mac Ware (Renovators Inc.).
  
• Membership--Matt Jacobs (The Garland Co., Inc.).
  
• Program--Michael Milenovic (Distribution Fulfillment Services) and Justin Murphy (Urban Environments, Inc.).
  
• Facility Management Certificate Program--Donna Byrom (MCI) and Tom Robbins (Columbus State Community College).

Prior to surrendering the president's gavel and swearing in the new officers, Timm reflected on the past year, citing the chapter's growth to over 200 members, the chapter's redesigned logo and Web page, efforts by members to get more people involved in chapter activities and events, and the chapter's submission of entries to the international's competition for excellence in chapter growth and in Web page development.

Patton thanked Tim for his "outstanding leadership," stating,  "last year was a positive one for the chapter and I look forward to seeing you at more events this year."

With administrative duties out of the way, the more serious festivities began with the flowing of libations of choice and a buffet of pulled pork, barbecued wings, deep fried sauerkraut balls, breads, and an assortment of chips and dips.

And for those who missed a great evening and dare to venture to Barley's in the future, the "hot sauce" is truly hot.

The next chapter program will be at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 13 at the Fawcett Center at Ohio State.  The topic:  How to Write a RFP (Request for Proposal).
