It was “Thank You Night” at Bar Louie in the Easton Towne Center September 10 as members of the Central Ohio IFMA Chapter paid tribute to their sponsors and associates for their support during 2003.

Each year chapter members gather to show their appreciation to the companies and individuals who provide much of the financial backing that enables the chapter to make available the organization’s numerous educational and social events at no or minimal cost.

This year, members and guests “dined” on an assortment of “finger foods”—soft pretzels, corn chips and spinach and artichoke dip, brushetta, (roman toasted garlic bread) and quesadillas—and their favorite libations before and after the awards were presented by chapter president Stephanie Patton with able assistance from vice president Eileen Smith.

Six companies were awarded plates for plaques they received previously, indicating they had served as the highest-level—Initiators, who provided $1,000 each--sponsors for more than two years.  They are:

Chemical Abstracts Service, Continental Office Environments, Corporate Interior Concepts, Dan Binford & Associates, DuPont Flooring Systems (now the Invironmentalists), and Messer Construction.

Framed certificates of appreciation were presented to the second highest-level sponsors—Facilitators, those who endowed the chapter with contributions of $500 each.  They are:

Bentley Prince Street Carpeting, Boise Workspace, Capital Services, Inc., Commercial Movers, Inc., Contract Interiors, Cort Furniture, Designed Moves, Inc., Fiber Seal of Central Ohio, Four Seasons Environmental, Inc., Nationwide Insurance, NBBJ, Singer Wallcoverings, The Trane Co., Thomas W. Ruff and Co., Tim O’Neil & Associates, and Urban Environments, Inc.

Certificates were given to those who supported the chapter at the Manager ($250) and Associate ($100) levels.  They are:

Manager—Allsteel, Clara Brown Interiors, Inc., F.F. Leonard, Inc., HAWA Inc., J. Yankle Co., Kimball Office, King Business Interiors, Inc., Renovators, Inc., ReSource Ohio, Siemans Building Technologies, and Timm Facility Management.

Associate—Accent Drapery Co., Armstrong World Industries, Frank Novak & Sons, Inc., Hamilton-Parker, Karlsberger, OSERS Broad St., LLC, and The Art Exchange.

The drive for sponsors for 2004 is underway, and all members are urged to contact the Associate Relations Committee with names of companies and individuals interested in supporting the chapter in this capacity.  All suggestions should be sent to Jennifer Jarrett at (614) 232-8109 or Jennifer.Jarrett@usbank.com, or Linda Myers at (614) 487-4141 or lmyers2@steelcase.com.

Next month the chapter returns to the Fawcett Center at The Ohio State University for a panel discussion on telecommunications.  The program will begin at 8 a.m. October 8 following a continental breakfast and networking opportunity at 7:30 a.m.

Panelists are Chip Chapman, managing principal, The Knowledge Group, Inc.; Ray Essex, president and chief executive officer, Datatalk/Executone; and Brad Hayes, president and chief executive officer, TTG.  James D. Sauer, principal and project manager, Design Group, will serve as moderator.

The panel will explore various aspects of telecommunications within the workplace, including infrastructure, technologies, and revenue management with an eye toward customer service, flexibility, and future trends.
