Four years ago, almost to the day, members of the Central Ohio IFMA Chapter toured the historic Moline Plow Co. building at 343 N. Front St.

At that time, the now 93-year-old building in the city’s rapidly developing Arena District was undergoing an extensive and expensive facelift.  Resource Interactive had taken over the upper floors of the four-story brick building, Buca di Beppo was serving Italian cuisine in its basement restaurant, but owners were still searching for occupants for the street-level space.

On July 13, IFMA returned to the building for its annual Chapter Night, invading the south side of the first floor where The Frog Bear and Wild Boar Bar now provides food, drink, and live music in a fun and whimsical atmosphere. (Today’s tenants are in striking contrast to their predecessors—sales and office space for the Ohio Division of the Moline Plow Co., wholesale grocers, and wholesale drug companies.)

Even before IFMA members settled into a corner of the spacious establishment, things were really jumping with downtown workers and other Arena District aficionados bringing another business day to an apparent happy and successful conclusion.

It was a good environment for networking, taking a sip of your favorite beverage, crunching munchies and other finger foods, installing officers for 2005-2006, and kicking around ideas on how to make the Central Ohio Chapter even stronger.

Eileen Smith, now immediate past president, administered the oath of office to Dorothy Leachman, president; Justin Murphy, vice president; and Ken Mulligan, treasurer.  Shelly Sensenbrenner, secretary and chapter administrator, and Donna Byrom, vice president, were unable to attend the event and will be installed at another meeting.

The chapter is sponsoring an additional event this month. Actually, it’s two for the “price” of one for those who want to get technical.  The three-in-one committee—Education/Programs/Social—and Membership are “combining” the FM Roundtable with the New Member Breakfast at a new Panera Bread Co. location.

The dual event will begin at 7:30 a.m. July 20 at Panera Bread at 3625 Fishinger Blvd. just off I-270 at Hilliard.  J.D. Flaherty, Membership co-chair, expects this to be the best breakfast yet with 27 new members invited to attend.  The roundtable will begin at the conclusion of the breakfast and introduction of new members and will end by 10 a.m.  All board members are urged to attend.
