Stephan Cooke and Matt Frost, co chairs of the Central Ohio IFMA Chapter’s Programs Committee, did themselves proud November 14.
They moved the monthly chapter social from Gibby’s in the Arena District to Wendell’s Alumni Grill on Lane Ave., just off The Ohio State University campus, and it appears Ohio State wins again.
The turnout was larger, the facility and atmosphere more congenial, the food more tempting and seemed to vanish quicker, and, as some like to say, “A good time was had by all.”
After several months at Gibbys, Cook and Frost decided a change in venue was necessary to get away from the “same old, same old,” and, perhaps, bring the social to a facility a little closer to where people live, negating the drive downtown.. An informal survey led them to Wendell’s.
Cooke and Dupler Office sponsored this event which attracted several members and three guests: Murray Holland, Rytel Holland Contract; Kathleen Vislosky, business development manager, Allsteel; and Eric Riehl, area manager, Corna/Kokosing Construction Co.
The sponsors provided an abundant variety of finger food and the allotted space—a little smaller than at Gibbys—made for great socializing.
Cooke was “extremely happy with the evening’s location and event. We may try other places in the coming year, but for now Wendell’s will be our home. They were great to us.”
Cooke said he felt the larger turnout was due in part to relocating the social “a little farther north of the downtown.” He was also pleased to see several new people as well as those who had apparently grown a little tired of the former location.
Everything went so well Cooke has already scheduled the December social for Wendells. It will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.19.
And when the weather warms in 2008, Wendells will provide a space outdoors.
